Lincoln Democrats Host Candidate for Governor |
On October 13th, members of the Lincoln Democratic Town Committee hosted Attorney General Patrick Lynch at their monthly meeting. Attorney General Lynch, a declared candidate for Governor of Rhode Island, addressed members of the committee and spoke about his vision for a stronger Rhode Island.
The crowd assembled to hear the gubernatorial candidate included representatives from the General Assembly, Lincoln Town Council, the Rhode Island Democratic Party, Lincoln’s appointed officials and private citizens.
Democratic Chairman Tim McMahon noted that “we had a very nice turnout for this event and a spirited question and answer period after General Lynch’s presentation.” When asked if this was the first in a series of scheduled talks, Chairman McMahon stated that, “Yes, this is the first of several talks we are setting up with the Democratic candidates for general office. In the not too distant future, we hope to host other candidates so when the time comes to offer our endorsement, the Lincoln Democrats will be well informed as to the options we have available to us.”
Chairman McMahon went on to state that during the next several months of this year and the early phases of 2010, his committee will be working on refining a political platform and a formal endorsement process. Noted McMahon, “a formalized platform and endorsement process helps the committee to have a strong foundation upon which to base its decisions about awarding our endorsement. This is a process we’re all looking forward to.”
